One-on-one Precision Teaching in reading, math, writing, and logic/comprehension for students with ADHD, autism, and learning challenges, in Pleasanton or online.
Who we serve
Fit Learning Bay Area helps students from Pre-K through 12th grade who struggle in traditional classrooms. We specialize in learners with ADHD, autism, and other learning challenges, and we welcome any student who has fallen behind, with or without a diagnosis. Sessions are one-on-one, in our Pleasanton center or online.
Our approach
We use Precision Teaching, a data-driven method rooted in behavior analysis. Students practice skills in short, fast-paced timings until they reach true fluency, meaning skills that are fast, accurate, and lasting. Every session produces objective data, and each learner’s program is adjusted based on that data rather than on a fixed curriculum.
Programs
- Fit Reading (K–12): phonics, phonemic awareness, reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary
- Fit Math (1–12): numeration and computation through fractions, algebra, and problem solving
- Fit Logic (2–12): our most popular program, building problem solving, advanced comprehension, and critical thinking. It is grounded in Relational Frame Theory, a research-based account of language and cognition.
- Fit Writing (3–12): grammar, sentence and paragraph construction, organization, and genre writing
- Lil’ Fits (Pre-K–1): listening, following instructions, language building, and reading and math readiness
- Fit Homeschool and Study Hall: support for homeschooling families and structured homework help
Experience
All programs are supervised by Dr. Michael Johnston, PhD, BCBA-D. He trained in behavior analysis at the University of Nevada, Reno, where Fit Learning was founded, and has 14 years of experience as a school district BCBA. He has run Fit Learning Bay Area for seven years.
Working with advocates and IEP teams
- With parent consent, we share progress summaries and charts that IEP teams and advocates can use to document growth.
- We can serve as a provider when compensatory education or private services are part of a resolution.
- Regional Center families may apply Self-Determination Program (SDP) funds to Logic enrollments.
- Families referred by an advocate are contacted within 24–48 hours.
Getting started
Every family begins with a complimentary consultation, followed by an assessment to build an individualized program.
